The last great piece in the puzzle has finally been finalized, we have a car!

Liz kindly donated her 1992 Toyota Hilux surf to us to use on our trip and to donate to charity upon our arrival (if we make it!).

I first saw this car parked outside our wonderful mechanic, Martins’ house last summer when I was getting the Fiesta serviced. I asked him about it and he informed me that it had broken down (frost plug had gone) and hadn’t been repaired. I forgot about it for almost a year until I started thinking about a car for this trip.
I called Martin and found out it hadn’t been moved since I last saw it, Martin got me a number for the owner who had moved houe and left the car behind. A few phone calls later and Liz had agreed to donate us the car! Liz has been to all the countries we will be visiting en route and it was really interesting to hear her stories about them and i’m sure her offer to translate for us over the phone if we’re ever stuck will come in very handy!

Many of you will know the Toyota Hilux from its’ famous appearance in Top Gear which is shown below.

The Hilux is almost the perfect car for a trip like we’re planning and i’m delighted to have such a capable car.

Now all we need is a name, any suggestions anyone?

UPDATE: I’ve added another Top Gear Special involving a Hilux, here they drive a new one to the North Pole! Great watching.
