Woke up at the crack of dawn to make the most of our remaining couple of hours in the park.

We had a nice, if slightly rushed, game drive to the gate to try and be out by 7:30 when our 24 hour pass expired. As we drove to the gate Mother Nature provided us with two very special treats – firstly Mt. Kilimanjaro which had been shrouded in mist the previous day decided to reveal herself to us! The amount of snow on top was really depressing, there was barely any to be seen. But still what a magnificent sight, such a high mountain rising so perfectly from such a flat plain.

Secondly, just as we were approaching the gate and bemoaning the lack of any big cats what did we seen hopping across the road in front of us only a mother lion and her two teenage daughters! The appeared out of the scrub – loped across the road and were gone again seconds later, if we’d been 1 minute earlier or later we’d have missed them completely. It was a real treat, especially for such a cat man like myself!

We were soon out of the park and before we knew it we were back in Nairobi, spending the afternoon readjusting to city life, shopping and even fitting in a game of squash – no sitting around relaxing when Dara’s over to stay!
