It’s A Long Way To Tipperary

We said our final goodbyes to Peponi and my phone and headed off West towards the Usumbara mountains. The road was good and soon we were winding our way upwards into the lush green and beautiful mountains.

We stopped for a picnic and admired the lovely view.

Eventually we arrived at Irente Farm where we were lodging for the night. We decided to head off for a short walk to the nearby Irente view point. My what a view! An 800m almost vertical drop looking right out onto the plains below. We started to walk along the cliff edge, followed everywhere by the ceaseless calls of  ’muzungu muzungu’ (foreigner/white person) from all the local kids.

We eventually found some very willing tour guides who told us they would show us the way to another view point.

And what a view point it was, perched right out on a rock looking down on the plains. It felt like you could be god playing a very realistic game of sim city!

Eventually, as the light was failing, we headed off back home to a lovely dinner

and a good nights sleep.
